Returning to begin again
to begin with three periods

on the face of an Andalusian dog,
or are those fleas?

These images are being disassembled
by ants—elephant ants

that won’t stay as words,
that crawl off the page

to rejoin that parched landscape
outside my window.

I am beginning again.
Voices of the collective cactus patches

won’t let me ramble
into a narrative frame of mind.
