A tertulia (Spanish: [terˈtulja]; Galician: [teɾˈtulja]: tertúlia [tɨɾˈtuliɐ]Catalan: tertúlia [tərˈtuɫiə]) is a social gathering with literary or artistic overtones, especially in Iberia or in Latin AmericaTertulia also means an informal meeting of people to talk about current affairs, social happenings, arts...

PAWA recaptures the spirit of this social gathering popular during both Spanish and American colonial rule in the Philippines. A tertulia permitted the expression of native patriotism with subversive opinions disguised through poetry in Tagalog, Spanish and English, and songs.

Join us for an evening of kundiman, poetry in Tagalog, Spanish, and English, and platitos

In the spirit of the evening, everyone is encouraged to wear Piña (or jusi).

A silent auction of original Piña works by designer Patis Tesoro and other Philippine textile products will be held in support of PAWA, Inc. and its projects, including The Hinabi Project.
