Via Bay Area Art Grind: Indiana University – Bloomington, Calls For Papers, INSIDE/OUT: Negotiations of Space & Identity in Arts & Architectures
The Indiana University Art History Association invites proposals for papers to be given at our annual Symposium in Bloomington, Indiana on March 3, 2012, addressing the theme INSIDE/OUT: Negotiations of Space & Identity in Arts and Architectures. We invite graduate students to submit papers exploring aesthetic practices as they are conditioned by place, nation, transnationalism, post-coloniality or diaspora. How are social spaces – artifactual, material, and imagined -made expressive of human categories and identities? The symposium is open to investigations of any compelling topic, era, artists, or place considered in this light. By welcoming diverse perspectives from areas of art and architectural history and visual culture studies, the symposium will create a dialogue around concepts of identity, belonging, borders, and cultural exchange as they are constructed and articulated through creative work. Please email abstracts of 250 words to email@example.com by December 30, 2011.
