Call for Nominations: Help Asian American Writers Workshop nominate a writer for the Asian American Lifetime Achievement Award!

From Asian American Writers Workshop: Help us nominate a writer for the Asian American Lifetime Achievement Award!

Deadline: Friday, July 22, 2011, 7PM

Do you want to help us highlight an important Asian American writer? Since 1998, The Asian American Writers' Workshop has presented the highest literary honor to Asian diasporic writers--and now we'd like you to help us in the process. This year, we invite our members, friends, and fans to submit the names of up to three nominees for consideration for the Asian American Lifetime Achievement Award.

The ideal award-winner will be a literary figure of any genre who has built a substantial body of work, indicative of high literary and intellectual merit, or someone who has made a substantial contribution to Asian American or literary culture. Past winners of this award include Maxine Hong Kingston, David Henry Hwang, Hisaye Yamamoto, and Sonny Mehta. To be eligible for the award, writers or cultural figures must be of Asian American descent and must be living. To submit your nominations, please complete this form by Friday, July 22, 2011 at 6PM EST. A committee of judges will then decide on the recipient of this year's award. We thank you for your assistance in honoring writers and cultural figures who have spent their lifetimes making significant contributions to Asian American literature!
